"The League" and "LFRA" are mentioned frequently in these early essays. It appears that the League of Federal Recreation Associations is still in existence, although they do not have a website. I am going to contact them in December to see what I can find out about their history and their current mission. I wonder if they still publish a Recreation Register newspaper?

About Executive Etchings
Forty years ago David L. Brigham served as Executive Director of the Recreation Register which was a monthly newsletter for federal employees. David--my grandfather--contributed each month under the heading "Executive Etchings." The collected essays span a period of more than a decade beginning in November 1969.
The original purpose of this blog was to type up the collection so that new generations of our family can enjoy my grandfather's stories. But I am experiencing a little mission-creep. While continuing to type up the Etchings, I have been squirreling away family history, research, documents, genealogy info, and photographs to share here as well.
